Roscoe Mitchell This recording features three works by Roscoe Mitchell during a period of time he was exploring a term he uses to describe his music, "sound collages." L-R-G trio for woodwinds, high brass, and low brass is all about textures that are constantly shifting within and without. The Maze for eight percussionists is an ongoing work that Roscoe has been developing for years, continuously inserting new variations. The final piece on this recording, S II Example, is a study in curved soprano saxophone as Mitchell explores every possible permutation of possible fingerings, embouchre, volume control, breath, and body control.
