Selected Tracks: After early studies with Jackie McLean and Robert Carl, Jackson Moore joined the music community of Middletown, Connecticut, where he cofounded the Correspondence Quartet, the Middletown Creative Orchestra, and the Middletown Three. In Middletown, he became heavily involved with the myriad projects of composer Anthony Braxton, performing with his Ghost Trance Ensemble since 1997, recording a 4-CD set compiling the music of the Tristano School, co-conducting the Slovenian National Radio Orchestra. He has also performed in the quartets and quintets of James Fei, Chris Jonas, William Hooker, Kevin Norton, Brandon Evans, and Kevin O'Neil. Since 1999 he has resided in New York City, where he organizes events with the Tri-Centric Foundation, the CIC, and the Overground. |
The Laboratory Band Moore and Pavone bring together a virtuoso cast of musicians on this recording to show both sides of the modern music coin. The first side comes in the form of a half hour fully improvised piece for ensemble. The second side comes in the balance of the recording with a fully notated work that moves dramatically through multiple time changes and harmonic constructions. Both sides once again proving that there is a strong new generation of players coming along that are not constrained by the strictures of what constitutes "composition." Comes highly recommended. 32 tracks in 57:08 minutes :::>>> Tell A Friend About This CD From Drimala You might also enjoy listening to: The Labyrinth (Assif Tsahar and the New York Underground Orchestra) Embracing the Void (Assif Tsahar and the Zoanthropic Orchestra) Pomegranate (Steuart Liebig Ensemble) Sounds From the Big House (The Peggy Lee Band) Chamber Music (Dan DeChellis)
