A Survivor's Smile is Gary Hassay's debut CD
for Dbops Music. Released in 1996, the CD is an intensely personal journey on the
alto saxophone that is both highly introspective and celebratory. In fact, the title
kind of says it all. Over the past 10 years, Gary has built his corner of the world,
Allentown Pennsylvania, into a hot bed of improvisational music. This CD is a
culmination of Gary's work to support his art as a band leader, solo performer, and
collaborator with other artists including dancers and painters. Selected clips: Sunday Morning Truce The International |
