Our Mission
Drimala Records and you are part of an ever expanding consciousness that holds
the truth in music above commercial considerations. Drimala is an awakening from a
very long sleep to marry the power of the internet to make geography and middlemen an
anachronism with a music that might otherwise never be preserved. In our awakening,
we are committed to making unique recordings that document the silence in an art form too young for anything but the
now. Hopefully, these recordings will enrich your
life the way they have done ours and earn a respected place in your music library...a
place that will be visited time and again.
A portion of all Drimala Records' proceeds are given to bring a small measure of love and hope to our homeless neighbors in southeastern Virginia who but by an accident of birth are you and I. If you would like more information on our charitable activities, go to our Contact Us page.
Our Music
The music of Drimala is the very soul of what we are about here. We are
often asked, "what is your sound?" The answer is always the same, "it must
be true to itself." That is why it is difficult to categorize the Drimala
sound. Yes, some of our recordings fit most closely in the somewhat cliched genre of
the jazz avant garde, and others fit in the equally over cliched genre of world or new
age. But at Drimala, we don't think in those terms. We think in terms of
whether or not our musicians are being honest and true to themselves through their music.
Because we don't select music for release based on commercial considerations, you will find CDs in our catalogue that demand to be listened to....they are not suitable for background music. However, you will also find CDs in our catalogue that are very suitable for sharing during those quiet moments with friends that find us all wanting or needing conversation.
About This Site
A quick overview of this site is available by clicking here.
On April 20, 1998 we put up our first one page announcement announcing the birth of Drimala Records. This site, basically as you see it here, went live on June 18, 1998 and was designed to be readily accessible in as many environments as possible. Many of the artists represented on Drimala Records have large international followings in places where their fans don't have access to the latest in computer technologies. It is for them that we have tried to design a site that is elegant in its simplicity.
Thus, we have tried very carefully to not let technology limit your experience while visiting. So, yes while some may hear the midi file playing behind this page, everyone will be able to read the words. And we have limited the use of graphics to improve the access times, since none of us like to wait. We will continue to grow the experience of this site as the growth in technology allows us to add those features that make the internet's possibilities so magical for everyone.
One other point about this site. Your orders are processed via a secure server so you need not have a worry on that account. But, if you are still uneasy about ordering over the internet, we also provide the old fashioned ways of ordering that we all grew up on.
Our Policies
We are dedicated to providing an excellent experience from the time you click
on our URL to the time you experience a Drimala product.
With that said, the following is a few of our
policies that might be of interest:
1) We absolutely do not sell or in any way distribute our mailing lists or
email directories
2) All Drimala products come with an absolute, no questions asked return policy.
If you have any problems at any time with your experience, I want to know about it. I am the President and Executive Producer of Drimala Records and you may always reach me by clicking here where as they say, the buck stops here, or by dropping me a line at [email protected].
This site is updated on a weekly basis, so if you would like to drop by occasionally to see what we're doing, the light is always on....with this said, enjoy your visit.
This site is dedicated to my
dad, Philip Dornon Egert, (1929-1998) who
thought that the internet was the greatest invention of the 21st century.
