Born and raised in Starkville, Mississippi, Chad Anderson started learning to play the drums at age eleven. While in college, Chad met Alvin Fielder, one of America's underrated Jazz drummers (and a founding member of the AACM in Chicago in the 60's). He began private studies with Fielder and developed new ideas and approaches to drumming, not to mention taking advantage of Fielder's encyclopedic knowledge of Jazz history and experiences.

Chad has performed with many Jazz musicians such as: Herman Green, Alvin Fielder, Joel Futterman, Kidd Jordan, London Branch, Toby Tenhet, and Mark Applebaum.

Boiling up from down South in Mississippi, People Here is the debut recording of the Chad Anderson Quintet evoking the spirits of Lee Morgan and Albert Ayler all in one recording...swinging, straight-ahead all original freebop.  Further proof that there is a whole lot of really good music being made outside the big cities.

The cd is dedicated to the memory of late, great jazz drummers Billy Higgins, Ed Blackwell and Vernel Fournier...does this tell you were these young cats are coming from.

Comes highly recommended.
