From Tomorrow's World From 1960-61, Sun Ra had one of his longest running house gigs in Chicago at The Wonder Inn. As it turned out, The Wonder Inn became the great incubator for much of what came later in Ra's life and music. Working with a 6-piece version of the Arkestra seven nights a week, from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am, the music became a touchstone for much of what came later in Chicago by so many, from Roland Kirk to the AACM. This CD features 7 tracks from The Wonder Inn and 10 tracks from The Majestic Hall from the same period in Chicago and a 8-piece version of the Arkestra. 17 tracks in 68:31 minutes If you missed this cd, you might also enjoy listening to: Nuclear War (Sun Ra) Mining Our Bid'ness (Carei Thomas) Compositions for Creative Orchestra (George Lewis and the NOW Orchestra) Wowow (NOW Orchestra) Spirit House (Jemeel Moondoc and the Jus Grew Orchestra) Sunrise In the Tone World (Little Huey and the Creative Music Orchestra) Freedom & Unity (Clifford Thornton and the New Art Ensemble) |
