Spring Heel Jack (aka John Coxon and Ashley Wales) team with some of NYC's finest musicians along with the ever ubiquitous Evan Parker in one of the more interesting cds to come along in quite awhile.  In a complete departure from Spring Heel Jack's previous drum and bass techno beat work, they remain in the background here, holding things together while allowing their guest artists to work above them.   Don't expect beats and don't expect jazz here...it's all of this and none of this.   Listening will challenge and yes, frustrate, but it is worth knowing and owning.
