Heavy Days Are Here Again CD Cover

Heavy Days Are Here Again
   Leo Cuypers (piano)

Han Bennink (drums, C soprano saxophone, trombone)

Willem Breuker (saxophones, clarinet)

Arjen Gorter (bass)

Leo Cuypers, pianist and composer from Holland, is one of the great unsung heroes of Dutch creative music -- as a bandleader, solo pianist and member of the first incarnation of the Willem Breuker Kollektief. Heavy Days Are Here Again was a project that brought Bennink and Breuker (who made the first ICP record, New Acoustic Swing Duo, together as a twosome back in the '60s) back
together, and reunited Cuypers with Breuker as well. The band toured, made a national TV appearance, then recorded this absolutely killing studio LP in 1981 for reedist Breuker's label, BVHAAST Records.
