The
Milwaukee Tapes (Vol. 1) The Fred Anderson Quartet In 1980, Anderson took a quartet with Billy Brimfield (trumpet), Larry Hayrod (bass), and Hamid Drake (drums) to play somewhere in Milwaukee... unfortunately, the name of the venue has been lost over time...and made arrangements to have a professional 8-track recording made of the concert. Twenty years later, the first fruits of this performance are publicly available. Prior to this recording, Anderson and Brimfield had been collaborating since the beginning of the 1960s when they had a pre-AACM quartet with bassist Bill Fletcher and drummer Vernon Thomas. Fred suggests that the reason he was chosen to participate in the very first AACM concert in 1965 was the fact that he already had compositions and a musical direction. :::>>> Tell A Friend About This CD From Drimala If you like this cd, we think you might also enjoy listening to these other releases: Dark Day (Fred Anderson Quartet) 2 Days In April (Fred Anderson - Kidd Jordan) Live At the Velvet Lounge (Anderson, Drake, Kowald) Underground Railroad (Joe McPhee Quartet) |
