The late Hal Russell's NRG Ensemble was one of the more interesting groups to come out of Chicago in the mid-1980s.  As one of the early free jazzmen, working throughout the '60s with Joe Daley's radical trio of experimentalists, Hal was constantly exploring, melding, and trying new musical ideas. His young tribe of NRG lions were the perfect instrument for his explorations.

This recording comes with our highest recommendation.
