Silhouettes is Joel Futterman's "inside" solo piano CD
for Progressive Music. Released in 1996, this CD represents the other side of Joel
that he rarely shares with his audiences. This collection of eight pieces, including
his only nonoriginal ever recording, Naima, is a museum of jazz piano styles from
the late forties to the early sixties...framed in distinctly Futtermanesque harmonic
resolutions and rhythmic variations. If you are a student of jazz piano, this CD
will open your ears to the many possibilities. Or, if you just love the piano, this
CD will earn a place in your CD player for many years to come. Either way, this CD
is not to be missed. Selected tracks: Naima Silhouettes JP Swingin' |
