Earl Lavon Freeman's discography covers a 50-year period beginning with a series of 1950 recordings as a member of Charlie Parker band.    His two 1975 recordings for Nessa Records, come about halfway through the period of time and are two of the finest examples of why he is considered a founder of the Chicago school of jazz tenorists along with Gene Ammons, Johnny Griffin, and Clifford Jordan.

Von's recorded output is not prolific, in fact he didn't record under his own name until 1973, but these are two of his best.

This recording comes with our highest recommendation.
