MBEK Michael Bisio (bass) Eyvind Kang (violin) MBEK features Michael Bisio on bass and Eyvind Kang on violin. This project reunites two Seattle-based heavyweights of contemporary improvisation. They last recorded together in 1996 on Covert Choreography with Bisio's quartet. This outing finds the duo four years further down the road both compositionally and musically. From the beautifully arranged opening homage to Trane, Seraphic Light, you know that this is going to be a good listen...and it is. If you appreciate the subtleties of stringed improvisational-based compositions that are not particularly concerned about being "jazz," this project will unfold and develop in your mind's ears in a very satisfying cinematic manner. Eight tracks in 68 minutes.
