Klaus Janek lives in Berlin and is active with many projects, including the electronic improvisational dance music of DeeQ.  He has performed extensively in Europe and has worked with Bill Dixon, Borah Bergmann, Mat and Joe Maneri, Peter Kowald, Butch Morris, LaDonna Smith, and others.

He undertook a "Greyhound Tour" of the U.S. in 2000, proving that a doublebass can fit underneath the bus seat.

Caspar
   Klaus Janek (bass)

Caspar is an incredible achievement on two levels.  Italian-born doublebassist Klaus Janek has created an album of solo music which continually delights and captivates as would an entire orchestra.  Second, Klaus has succeeded in translating the thoughts and sensory inundation lived by the tragic historic figure Kaspar Hauser, released from absolute imprisonment to a world of sights, smells, and sounds never even suggested in the privation of his cell.  This elaborate, highly visual piece is a milestone in the doublebass repertoire.

Comes with our highest recommendation.
