Improvisations for Organ and Saxophone
   Gary Verkade (organ)

Steve Nelson-Raney (soprano & sopranino saxophones)

Seven freely improvised duets recorded in 2001. Gary Vekade plays 3-manual and pedal Casavant organ with mechanical key and stop action.   In combination with Nelson-Raney who is extemely prolific as both a composer and performer in both jazz and contemporary music, the result is extremely engaging.  One can't help but be reminded of the early 14th century improvisational music when listening to this recording....a reminder to us all that music improvisation has been with us for a very long time.

Comes highly recommended for a rare listening experience of freely improvised organ music.

7 tracks in 65:21 minutes.     Limited edition of 300.
