Having To Ask

Having To Ask is a very impressive CD debut by a very impressive musician. Deanna Witkowski's skills as a jazz pianist and composer shine on every track.  Jazz history echoes through every piece in remarkable hybrids of styles from bebop to afro-cuban, from the sparse, angular music of Thelonious Monk to the lush complexity of Bill Evans. Add in Deanna's breathy, dreamy, perfectly tuned voice (another instrument really), a group of very talented Chicago-based jazz musicians to back her up, and you have one of the very best debut musical projects to come down the road in a long time.

You'll be hearing more from Deanna and now is the time to hear where it all began...modern but accessible heartfelt jazz with a Latin tinge.

10 tracks in 68 minutes.
