C/D/E Formed in 1996, the C/D/E trio traces its common roots back to their days with Bobby Bradford. Marty and Andrew performed and recorded with Bobby in the 80's while Dresser recorded and performed with Bradford later on including with Stanley Crouch's band, Black Music Infinity, which included Arthur Blythe, David Murray, James Newton, and Walter Lowe. This recording marks three years of evolving compositions and performances by three veterans. The music on this disc is as one would expect, full of deep sentiment without sentimentality. Comes highly recommended. 10 tracks in 50:25 If you missed out on this cd, you might also enjoy listening to these other excellent recordings: Aquifer (Mark Dresser Trio) Slamadam (Michael Moore, Mark Dresser, Gerry Hemingway, Ernst Reijseger, Wolter Wierbos) Cosmosamatics (Sonny Simmons, Michael Marcus, William Parker, Jay Rosen) St. Louis Blues (Archie Shepp, Richard Davis, Sunny Murray) Concert in Berlin, 1996 (Gräwe, Gustafsson, Tramontana, Mattos and Sanders) Let It Go (Spearman's G-Force) Another Shining Path (Gary Hassay, William Parker, Toshi Makihara) |
