Pastoral Composure The initial release on the Blue Series that came out of Shipp and Parker's 1999 tours. Blending a beautiful mix of original music with classic standards, the cd is more dominated by Campbell's beautifully haunted playing than Shipp's piano. Easily the most accessible of Shipp's recordings and a very satisfying one at that. The performances are very tight, well conceived, and have enough space that you can enjoy the quartet as individual members as well as a group. Comes highly recommended. If you missed this cd, you might also enjoy listening to: Time Is Of The Essence (ODIM with Shipp) New Orbit (Shipp, Smith, Parker, Brown) Symbol Systems (Matthew Shipp) Wisdom of Uncertainty (Ware, Shipp, Parker, Ibarra) Peach Orchard (In Order to Survive) Going To Church (Maneri Ensemble) It's Krunch Time (Campbell, Jamal, Morris, Brown) |
