Chicago
2002 Paul Rutherford and Lol Coxhill were two leading lights in the revolutions that transformed free jazz into free improvisation back in the mid-1960s. This recording marks Rutherford's first solo trip to the US side of the last three decades of music development and it is excellent. The recording opens with the 31-minute solo Rutherford performed at Chicago's Empty Bottle Festival in 2002, followed by the three extended tracks with the septet that was put together the following evening. Both Rutherford and Coxhill aptly demonstrate on this recording that their chops are still as strong as ever and, even more importantly, that there is no generation gap with artist performing at this level. Comes with our highest recommendation. 4 tracks in 77:21 minutes :::>>> Tell A Friend About This CD From Drimala If you like this cd, you might also enjoy listening to: Fuck de Boere (Brotzmann Nonet) Buzz Soundtrack (ISKRA 1903) Trombolenium (Rutherford) ATLAS (The Territory Band - 2) Spectral Soprano (Lol Coxhill) |
